Jump On This Amazon Free Shipping While It Lasts!
by Pravin on January 24th, 2009 in shopping.
UPDATE: One week into February, and this deal is still working!
UPDATE: Still going strong on Feburary 16! Traderbora has plenty of movies for $5 and free shipping.
The most recent Amazon-associated merchant deal only lasted a short while before many of the movies stopped being eligible for free shipping. The prices were pretty good, but without free or discounted shipping, the cost-per-disc in the end was not always favorable.
A hot tip at the AVS forum says that at this very minute, and maybe at least for the rest of this day, there’s another Amazon merchant offering plenty of titles for $5.94 and the majority of them are eligible for Amazon’s discounted or free shipping promotions.
Go now and good luck!

the HD-DVD prices are amazing…i know its a “Dead Format” but the prices are just ridiculously low. You’re paying like $5 for a HD movie… unbelievable.
I went to fry’s the other day to get some HD-DVD’s and got Flags of our Fathers, Disturbia, Transformers, & TMNT all for just under $35.00
I have the Xbox 360 add-on player.
I am staying red for the main time. The way i see it, i can watch almost all the movies i like on HD-DVD…and when the time comes i will buy the Blu-Ray Xbox 360 ad-on, but only so i can watch new movies in HD.
Hell, i will probably still be using my HD-DVD player by the time the next format rolls around.

I doubt there will be a Blu-ray add-on for the 360. Maybe the “720″ or whatever comes next will have that kind of drive built right in.
Selling a game disc with tons of extras takes the developer a longer time to make, and also eats into their budget. It’s much faster to make a decent game and then release expansions. You can concentrate on the core game, and you can also put more time into quality expansions.
Speaking of the expansions, there’s a lot of money to be made in selling new maps, levels, songs, etc., and consumers are actively participating in that business model on Xbox Live. I don’t think Microsoft is in a hurry to lose that revenue stream, and I don’t think the developers/publishers are eager to lose it either.

BLURAY VENTING! So although I am a supporter of HDDVD and continue to buy HDDVDS I want, I have a ps3 and have begun to buy and shop for Bluray. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is that some are region coded!!! Amazon uk has a great 3 for 2 sale and all the ones I want aren’t region free. I did pick up almost famous, but can’t take advantage of the sale. It just makes it so much harder and frustrating to pick up some cool imports because even if you think you get good info that they might be region free, you never know. So basically, that sucks. That’s all I have to say.

I’m not sure, but it appears Traderbora added a few titles. I thought they were all Universal before, but now they have a few Paramount titles. They have Mission Impossible 1,2 &3, Into the Wild, Zodiac, Black Snake Moan, Transformers Etc. Check it out.

I’m not sure what all is still available, but if anyone has a harris teeter or a kroger’s by them might want to check out if they have a dvd bargain bin in them. I went to my local teeter and was able to pick up a number of hd dvd combo discs for around $3-$4 per title. Mine didn’t have the best selection, but at those prices, i pretty much grabbed anything i didn’t already own or hadn’t seen and could possibly be interested in, just in case. I got children of men, eastern promises, talk to me, hollywoodland, the scorpion king, breach, white noise 2, you me and dupree, unleashed, waist deep, fast and furious tokyo drift, chuck and larry, and evan almighty (all combo discs).
like i said, not the best selection, but i’ve read that others had better luck with selections at different stores. i went by a number of harris teeters in my area and the one i initially saw them at was the only store that had hd dvds. i couldnt have spent more than $40-$42 for 13 hd dvds, so even if i end up not enjoying them, its pretty much the price of renting them on standard def. well worth it in my mind. anyways, happy hunting.

Pravin, this is off topic, but your the last man standing. You have the only active HD DVD blog left, so once you decide not to post anymore its game over for us HD DVD lovers when it comes to HD DVD news.

The Kroger stores in Omaha have all those titles but with their Plus Card they were 50% off, making them 2.50-4.00 each. Not bad.

I just tried this Traderbora deal today and it worked!
Way cool – I bought 40 movies for $200!! I haven’t even found USED movies for that price.
Note to Canadians: you have to ship to a US address for this to work…

Hi George. Your link is for a DVD, not HD DVD. Not sure if you read it wrong or I am, but it looks to me like it’s just a standard DVD.
Also, Blockbuster.com is showing that they still have copies of The Assassination of Jesse James and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The codes I used before aren’t working anymore, and there is shipping now. All together it would be around 9 bucks per disc, however I can’t find any listings for cheaper than this anywhere else. There is only one listing for Jesse James on ebay. Has anyone seen these titles anywhere for a better price?
