HD DVDs on Sale at Buy.com

by Pravin on June 6th, 2008 in shopping.

Buy.com is the latest retailer taking advantage of the opportunity created by Amazon’s lack of HD DVD sales and promotions. They’re apparently duplicating the same deals currently offered at DeepDiscount.com, but with no coupon code hassles. Same $9.58 price, but no coupon is needed.

Additionally, Buy.com is one of those “Google Checkout” vendors, which means that you can get $10 off your first order using Google Checkout at Buy.com. Taking advantage of that additional $10 discount should result in even greater savings on your purchase.

Great, thanks for the headsup. I still think inetvideo.com though has a better deal, especially now that they’ve extended their sale and what looks like upgraded their servers. I did find a couple of other titles that I couldn’t find at inetvideo.com which makes this post just as valuable :D However, it is a better deal there.

Is Jay an inetvideo employee? Three posts in three separate threads…..something smells fishy. I like deep discounts deal the best. Free shipping on any amount, the same dvds, and most all of them end up being slightly less than 10 bucks a pop. Unless You want 8 or 9 of the 5.99 dvds… then it makes sense to use inetvideo.com

I emailed him right after the first post, and he’s not an inetvideo employee, but just someone happy to have found a place to talk about HD DVD.

    welcome jay!

I also think inetvideo.com has overall better deals even with the 7.99 videos & free shipping. I bought 8 videos of decent calibur for under $60.00 - Heck 2 Blu-ray DVDs on any spectrum just about that cost the same. For the record I was posting as spotlifetv but using my stage DJ name.

hehe Patrick, I’m a happy go lucky Government employee with all the time in the world to spend time shopping for DVDs.. As Pravin stated (and confirmed through my work email), I’m just a happy camper when it comes to inetvideo and wanted to share.

Does anyone have Pan’s Labyrinth on hd dvd who can comment on whether or not its a definitive upgrade over the sd version? Reason being is that it would still cost 20 bucks from inetvideo and I already have the sd verision. I’m trying to only buy hd dvds I don’t have on sd, unless its worth getting the hd version. For instance I bought field of dreams, but that’s because I never had the sd version. If i did have the sd version, I wouldn’t have bought the hddvd as it basically just looks like an upres version of the sd. Let me know…

Check out www.paramountbluray.com and move your mouse over the Blu-Ray Support and Information, somebody forgot to tell them Blu-Ray and HD DVD support are two different things. Lets put it this way the site is riddled with HD DVD “easter eggs”.

P.S. Blu-Ray in my book still sucks in comparison to HD DVD.

I have Pan’s Labyrinth HD, I have not seen SD so I can’t tell you it’s better. But I can tell you it looks awesome!

Mission Impossible went back down to 11.95 on amazon. Its been 19.95 for the past week or two. It’s still $22 on deepdiscount. For anyone who didn’t like the next two movies that much and don’t want the trilogy (which is pretty cheap with the 20% off on deepdiscount).

I know the headlines have been few but thanks for the links to good movie deals. I had one problem with the EZ dvd site
in the UK. The movies I got said region error. I thought all HD DVDs were universal. Has anyone else had this
    problem? I’m in the US

  14. patrick Says:

Hey Eddy. I bought shaun of the dead HDDVD from ezydvd.com. It’s actually australian, not UK. The dvd worked fine. Not sure what the problem could be. Sorry!
