HD DVDs for $5.99
by Pravin on May 22nd, 2008 in shopping.
UPDATE: Some of the site issues mentioned in this post appear to be resolved. Visit this store via the following link:
http://stores.channeladvisor.com/inetvideocom/
Nowadays, most of the really big deals on HD DVDs are happening at European and Aussie sites, but in the last few days, a North American site has suddenly drawn a lot of attention for their $5.99 sale. The company is inetvideo.com and they’ve also been selling discs through eBay and Amazon’s Marketplace for a while. The catalog is largely (or perhaps only) composed of Univeral titles including The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and many others.
There are a couple of things you should know before heading over there. First is that the site goes down frequently because it’s running on a weak server — they didn’t expect so much demand from this HD DVD sale. Fortunately, they have live customer service people who can take your order, allowing you to bypass some of the server issues.
You’ll need to browse through the store to check out their selection, and make a list of the movies you’d like to order, adding them to your cart as you go along. If the stars are in your favor, and your online mojo is close enough to a peak, you’ll probably be able to order a bunch of discs with no worries. However, if you’re experiencing issues with the site, then just contact them via email at support@inetvideo.com or use their live chat feature and they’ll get everything squared away.
You can also bypass these server problems by going straight to their store on eBay, but the product listings are a little more tedious to navigate through, and the “buy it now” price is $7.98.
The other thing you should know is that shipping is around $2 per disc, and your final cost wil be around $8 for each movie. This is still a great deal because most of those movies are going for at least $13.95 at Amazon.
International shoppers trying to take advantage of their currency’s strength over the weakened US dollar might be taken aback by higher shipping rates, but it’s worth a look, just as it’s sometimes worth the effort for a US-based customer to check out foreign stores.

- iNetVideo’s store on eBay
- Page at their site listing their HD DVD movies, but not all are are at this $5.99 price

Be careful, I just ordered three hd-dvds via their online chat client (their site is down, eBay price is expensive), and though I haven’t gotten the payment request yet (I chose paypal instead of cc as my payment option), the customer service rep told me (via chat) that the shipped price for all 3 would be $29 and some change. I thought it was going to be $24. So, if the discs are still priced at $5.99, shipping is actually closer to $4 per disc. This does not appear to be the fire sale that I have been looking for (though it is still a good price). I think the technical difficulties they are experiencing may actually just be a price hike.

echo the same as kdigital. Only some of the title is $5.99. American Gangster is $11.99 per Michelle. The shipping is about $23.95 for 9 disc via media mail. It is a OK price, but for sure not a fire sale and got to have. Need to price each movie out. Their website is down so you will not know what the price is either until they sent you a quote. Don’t you just hate these game…!

Hi All,
I am part of a 900+ HD DVD group (The Bombshelter on Yahoo) and we contributed to crashing their site, once a member let us know about the sale. Just ask Michelle to send an order form. In the e-mail you receive you will see a link that lists all HD DVD.s http://shop.inetvideo.com/gethd.htm. Several members also provided their info over their instant chat feature to get their orders in. Average price per disk for me was$8.82 shipped.
If you’d like to join us at the Bombshelter and discuss many other sales, HD DVD trading zone, set ups, import specs, etc feel free to visit http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/thebombshelter/ and join.
All the best in hunting down great sales!

I took advantage of that sale. I bought 38 of them. I got them already this morning. I was lucky that i ordered them last Saturday. These guys are good man. They even shipped it with a tracking number for some reason. I guess the more you buy, the better shipping they offer. I putting another order since I didn’t get ripped from the company. I have a new shopping site to add to my list. But now, I have to choose between buying cheap HD DVDs or paying high gas prices…….. not sure…

At least for the time being, gasoline is about $4 and these discs are about $8 in the end. Gas gets used once and then you have to go and get more, but you can watch your movies over and over again. One gallon of fuel can run out in less than an hour, but most movies are at least 90 minutes long, and then there are all the bonus materials too.
Decisions, decisions.
Well, I will say this in gasoline’s favor: it helps me get to work so I can earn more money to buy more discs.

Hi All,
9.99 Import Sale Amazon.fr!
If you love hi-def, and are still looking for deals, check out the price reductions at Amazon.fr. There are several titles in here that may of interest and were never released in the USA. Hurry, prices fluctuate, sometimes hours apart.
Don’t bother trolling-I have both formats (5 players, and over 250 movies of both formats),and find it childish.
Happy Deal Hunting!

They just updated their homepage message Pravin. Check it out. These guys do have really good service. I understand that their site had issues. But honestly, maybe it was a wake up call for them. I am sure they are upgrading. Can you imagine how much they have to ship out!!!

You get gasoline for 4$ (per US gallon I assume)?
Bastards! Where I live we pay around 1.5 Euro’s a litre which amount to about 9$ per US gallon. A DVD (as in NORMAL DVD) for 14.99 Euros (that is 24$) is considered a good price in around here.
Anyone in a need of a good computer engineer over there? I think I want to emigrate

CNN has been tracking gas prices around the world:
http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/global_gasprices/price.html
Jonsson, it looks like all of us would do better in Venezuela where it’s only $0.14 per gallon.
However, I’m not sure what kinds of prospects they have for computer people over there.
But with an energy cost that low, I suppose one can get by on a much lower salary.

I just recieved my order today. I made 3 seperate orders. All of them came at the same time. Recived in great condition. Sent from Canada though.
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:50 pm
I received mine today as well. All as advertised, plus I love to have imports! French Titles under the english ones.
June 3rd, 2008 at 7:54 am
I ordered from this site as well and received my order rather quickly. The prices were great, although shipping was a little high. I still think the DVDs averaged less than $8 each (brand new) which you can’t beat on Amazon or half.com. The only gripe is that 2 of my 6 DVDs had titles and descriptions in English with French underneath, which is annoying. 4 out of the 6 were purely in English, however. Still worth the cheap price.

There Prices went up. I was going to order some last week friday but got busy doing something else and went to order them today and alot of them are more expensive. Bourne Ulitmatume is now 7.99. it was 5.99 on Friday. Army of Darkness was 5.99 and now is 11.99. several of them went up…… and actually every one i wanted went up

Hey Pravin, I don’t know if you have already looked at this article: http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/14299.cfm But I thought it was worth a look at. Not many details as to the specifications but Toshiba may be repackaging HD-DVD in a new format to beat out Blu Ray.
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:23 pm
I have seen that reported in a couple of places, but without much more than just a few lines of information. People listed some of these up-conversion features when they’d refer to some R&D efforts related to adding networking features to standard DVDs, and called the whole thing DVD 2.0.
June 3rd, 2008 at 8:30 pm
it seems that inetvideo has fixed their site. They have added some new titles for $5.99
June 4th, 2008 at 6:52 am
Scott, you’re right. I ordered 6 DVDs last week and all were $5.99. Now a few of them are $7.99 and one is even $9.99. A lot of people must have started ordering from them and they thought they could jack up the price due to demand..
June 4th, 2008 at 6:54 am
In addition, I just noticed that one or two of the DVDs I ordered aren’t even available anymore. If there’s a DVD you want for $5.99, I suggest ordering it now before it sells out…
June 5th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
I ordered three and the next day, the price went up to $7.99. I was a bit miffed that the DVDs had french writing on the covers, but I can get over it.
The discs play the same. as there is no regional coding for HD DVDs.
June 5th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
I dont get why people are mad that there is french writing on the case. Im a music lover and collector as well, and imports are usually seen as good and valuable to collectors. I like it. I ordered one of the australian discs mentioned in a previous post and the case was twice the size of all of the other hd dvds i have. Little oddities like that are things i like. I mean, I guess I get it if you’re super compulsive about collecting things and want everything to be exactly the same, but thats just not me.

iNetVideo.com is having a free shipping sale until June 8, 2008 on orders over $49.99 destination USA
June 7th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Patrick-
I understand what you mean, I have Resident Evil 1+2 from Germany, and it is kind of neat to see German script in the case. Alexandre is from the AU and is also twice as wide as “normal” HD DVD cases.
I just ordered some movies from iNet Friday, mostly for the free shipping! But I can’t complain about getting 7 HD movies for $51! Should arrive Tuesday if everything is in stock. Since Plattsburg, NY is close to my home. This order bumps me up to 94 HD DVDs!
June 9th, 2008 at 8:54 am
Carol,
The sale is actually till June 9th (end of today?) according to their website.. On Sunday I ordered a few DVDs and it seems like for some reason their cart charged me shipping even though I ordered over $50.. I called them today and they refunded me shipping back which I guess explains the extended sale, maybe they had issues.
I’ll be back in Canada in a few days hopefully they’ll have a free shipping deal there too.. I lucked out seeing I have to work in the States this week
June 9th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
I bought eight more HD Dvd’s that I did not have. So my collection is closing in on the 150 range. Love it!!! inetvideo has been a savior of Fire Sales that no one else has yet to offer. That free shipping really was great!
June 10th, 2008 at 5:49 am
Too bad no free shipping for Canada yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.
June 13th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
hehe looks like they’re back with a new sale! HDDVDs starting at $3.99 and 20% off shipping
http://www.inetvideo.com/
This one seems to be in response to last week’s sale that crashed their website. Maybe they upgraded their servers? Because it seems lke they’re daring people to crash their site..
