The only dvd player i've had break in my dvd owning lifetime is my ps2, and that never broke fully but just got finicky. I'm betting my HD DVD player won't let me down either. Hell, my family's betamax player finally went dead only 3 or 4 years ago, and am I still watching Beta? No. Same will probably go for HD DVD. By the time my player breaks, I'm sure something else other than HDDVD or Bluray will be here. PS: the blockbuster 30% off code of holidaysurprise still works. Picked up Eastern Promises and The Host yesterday, 12 bucks. I know a lot of titles aren't actually in stock once you click on them, but its worth checking all the ones you really want. I've gotten all the ones I wanted.

I just recently found out about the Fry's slae. I thought it was only online when I heard of it but then went to the closest one to me and saw that they had 4 shelves full of HD DVD's. over the last few weeks, I've bought 'Flags of Our Fathers', 'The Last Samurai', 'Superman:The Movie', 'The Skeleton Key' ($4.99!), 'World Trade Center' and 'Zodiac'. Most of them were $7.99 while 'Zodiac" was $11.99. I'm sure most everyone else knew this but I was late to the game. Now that I know, I'm stockpiling. I also recently ordered 'Superman II', 'Superman Returns', 'Beowulf' and Chronicles of Riddick' on Amazon and found 'Oceans Trilogy' for $29.99 at a small corner new and used place. This brings my collection count to 48.

I know Toshiba vowed to stop making HD DVD player but for all of us who still own, buy and watch, it would be nice if they made some standard dvd players that also played HD DVD, which I guess would make them HD DVD players but that doesn't seem to much to ask for those of us who were there when they needed us. As time goes on, these technology's are easier and cheaper to implement so I don't see why they can't throw us dogs a bone.

Personally, it makes me a little nervous to know they won't produce anymore HD DVD players. Meaning, we have to buy a few just to protect our collections. But what if they break? Are parts available? Will Toshiba offer any assistance? I picture myself with a broken player and a stack of HD DVD's and all these questions. They kinda nag at me.

Received my Deathproof steel book HDDVD today from www.grooves-inc.com. It is beautiful! Perfect condition, shipped in bubble wrap, and fast. Was shipped 1/07/09. 16 bucks for an import, probably the last HDDVD release, is pretty sweet. Must have for any HDDVD collector, especially if you're a Tarantino fan. It even comes with a nifty little movie postcard inside.

I received my items from blockbuster.com today, they were shipped on the 7th. Took a while to ship, but I did order on new years eve, so that may have had something to do with it. They came in the original hd dvd cases, all in great shape, original artwork. The discs themselves are slightly used/scuffed, but nothing too serious. It actually looks like someone tried to clean them, but did a poor job, so a good cleaning should probably take care of the scuffs. I havent tested them all, but these 4 titles (goodfellas, into the wild, zodiac and MI:3) for 24 bucks totaly (free shipping) was an awesome deal. Try to take advantage while you can, not sure how long that code for 30% off will still work.

Inetvideo increased their hddvd stock to 111 titles, and still has the free shipping over 49 bucks sale. Interesting to note, they are selling the first matrix movie, without the rest of the box set, for those of you who didn't like the rest of the trilogy.

Not really a holiday deal, but the german steel book version of Death Proof was actually released on December 15. I ordered mine a few days ago, and in total it was only 17 bucks american. I already have the SDVD, but figured I'd treat myself to a rare HDDVD when I could. I received a shipping confirmation email, but not the item yet. I'll report back when I do with the condition, but who knows how long it will take to get here. I found it through a thread on Amazon.com, and most people seemed happy with their copies. I ordered from www.grooves-inc.com, which only charged 2.00 euro for shipping. Its also available on other sites, but this is the best deal. Just click on the HDDVD link on the left side of the page and its the first option.

Hello and Happy New Year. I live in Alabama; I went to run a few errands this morning and ended up at the supermarket. Here it is called Kroger; I believe the very same one is called Ralphs in California. It is the same kind of store like Publix, Harries Teeter, etc. Anyway, you know these places carry a small amount of dvds here and there. Kroger here has dvd sales pretty frequently; you can get some nice titles for $4 or $5 each and I always like looking into their dvd bargain bin. Today was no different; there it was, a dvd blow-out. Great. I went to check it out and... they had lots of hd-dvds for $5.99 each! All brand new! At least 15 different titles (Miami Vice, Children of Men, Fearless, Unleashed, etc). I think it is worth it if you do not already have any of these titles. I hope you can find this deal where you live. Take care guys.

correction* i received 4 hd dvds for 24 bucks. I had 5 in my cart but before I checked out I had to remove one that wasn't available anymore. So thats about 5.50 a pop all together which is pretty great.
