Amazon 66% Off Sale
by Pravin on September 30th, 2008 in shopping.
We were just discussing on Monday how HD DVD sales are still going pretty strong, so many months after Toshiba threw in the towel, and now here comes Amazon with yet another of those fire sales that keeps these sales numbers going.
Amazon has a sale right now on 122 titles, many at up to 66% off. Though several titles are only 25% off, the bulk of this collection is on a fire sale with half of them at $9.99, and some for $11.99 or $12.99. These are all brand-new discs straight from Amazon, and not used titles or products from their affiliated vendors.
Here’s a list of the $9.99 titles, and you can head on over to see the rest of the selection for yourself:

Not sure if this is real but it would be pretty cool there’s a rumor going around that Iron Man will be released on HDDVD/DVD combo it says that Paramount received tens of thousands of requests to have it released on HD DVD and that it would probably be out a couple of months after the street date release. Wishfull thinking i guess as no stores around me are carrying them anymore why would they want to start again unless it was online sale only.

I checked out that link and…
It’s pretty easy to fake a product shot like that one. All you have to do is cut and paste the Iron Man part of the Blu-ray or DVD product.

If it was happening it would be awesome!!!

Hmmmm…… Having this HD-DVD combo release would allow Paramount to double-dip into a
high-def conversion that they already have in the can. And it would be a good test of the feasibility of
having high-end titles drive the combo release concept. Like you said, if it is done online, then you
don’t have to worry about distributing to stores, getting unsold material back, etc. etc. And it is a way to
keep the DVDs selling, especially since DVD will start declining to blu-ray pretty soon.
Price it comparably to the Blu-Ray release and people will buy it. I’m one of those !!!

There is also another place i found that is trying to get a petition started for Warner Bros. to put The Dark Knight on HD, i just don’t see why they wouldn’t try it to see how it unfolds i mean yes Blu-Ray won the format war but the way i see it is they won the right to sell in retail stores i think HD DVD could do well well with online sale only it wouldn’t lower their cost as all they would have to is produce it the shipping and stuff would be paid by us and if they released it on a combo disc then it would be the standard dvd as well.

Here is the link to that petition if anyone wants to check it out.

Found an ebay auction for 327 brand new HD-DVD movies with free worldwide shipping. Might be worth considering for those wanting to grab an instant collection as titles become harder to source. Here’s the link.

That’s a huge collection though i’m not sure anyone would jump into it for the price.

As you can see its over priced not one bid yet. I love HD DVD but its all about deals Baby! That sir is not a deal! For that kind of investment I would need to be in one of those movies.
